The Top 3 Features to Consider When Choosing Your Webinar Platform

Picking a webinar platform is kind of like buying a new car.

There are SO many options. So many choices, and you have to compare each of them to find the best option for you.

The benefit to buying a new car is that you have a salesman to guide you through the process – hopefully he’s a good one and not skeezy!

Picking a webinar platform can feel like a lonely feat as you are faced with all these options and no idea what you REALLY need.

I’m here to tell you the 3 things you actually need when it comes to your webinar platform, and what is just fluff that you can live without.

Consider this your life preserver.

No more drowning in options.

No more staring off into space as you ponder the never-ending list of features to consider.

Most importantly, no more paying absurd fees for a platform that WAY exceeds, or under-ceeds (Yep, we’re going to pretend that’s a word!) your needs.

Consideration #1:

The first thing to consider is whether you want your audience to be able to watch using their mobile device. Modern day folk are on their phones constantly and on the go.  Providing mobile viewing will increase your attendance rates and allow you to better connect with your audience that is largely made up of younger generations.

Not all platforms are mobile-friendly and some require the download of their app in order to stream on mobile devices. Not only does the need for an app add an extra step for your viewers, but sometimes there are glitches and it’s just a pain in the you-know-what. If you are targeting the mobile crowd, this is a key point for you to bear in mind – it could make or break your attendance rates.

Consideration #2:

Are you offering a replay? Some platforms automatically record, while others require you to remember to hit record when you go live. Others automatically send out the replay saving you a step while others require you to download the recording, upload it to cloud storage, and then craft up a witty post-webinar email and include the replay links. It’s only a few extra steps, but if you ain’t got the time then it might cost you a dime… (Lame rhyme, but you get what I’m saying.  Right?)

Consideration #3:

Are you hoping to go evergreen now or eventually?  Not all platforms have the option to do evergreen webinars and even those that do are not all made equally. Consider whether you just need live services, evergreen services, or both. Once you make that decision then you can do some research on which platforms are most highly rated  It hurts to not do you research when it comes to this.

Take note of all 3 of these key points before making your final decision. There is nothing worse than getting all signed up with a webinar platform, working your way through the set up only to find out it is a glitchy platform, poor customer support, or even worse – costs you a fortune and leaves you unhappy.

Avoid making a costly mistake by reading reviews, reach out to their support team to ask questions BEFORE you buy, and make sure whatever platform you buy is well within your budget.  Buying into a high-end platform in hopes of recouping the costs through webinar sales is NOT wise.  Instead, buy within your means, sell like a goddess, and then upgrade later.
